Unique and Personal Larchfield Estate Wedding Film

There’s something truly special about capturing a wedding day that tells a complete love story – from first meeting to “I do.” As a wedding filmmaker in County Down, I’ve documented countless beautiful moments, but David and Emily’s celebration at Larchfield Estate stands out as one of the most authentic, personality-filled weddings I’ve had the privilege to film. This was a day that had me reaching for tissues behind my camera more than once!

A Match Made Over Margaritas

Seven years ago, David was working at Bert’s Jazz Bar when Emily walked in and ordered a margarita. What followed is the stuff of rom-coms – a switched sugar rim instead of salt led to conversation, which led to subtle (and initially missed!) hints of interest, which eventually led to their first date at Rita’s (naturally, for more margaritas).

Without question, one of the most unique elements I’ve ever filmed at a wedding was the mid-ceremony margarita toast! After their vows and ring exchange, Emily and David celebrated with sugar-rimmed margaritas (of course!) – a beautiful nod to how they first met.

As their celebrant Sarah noted: “Margaritas, much like relationships, are a perfect blend of sweet and tangy, requiring the right balance to truly shine. Just like the mix in these glasses, David and Emily have found that balance in each other.”

A Day Full of Emotion and True Authenticity

What made this wedding truly special to film was how every element reflected who David and Emily truly are. In an age where wedding trends come and go, they created a day that was unmistakably them – thoughtful, fun, and deeply personal.

Emily, a devoted Taylor Swift fan, handcrafted friendship bracelets for every guest – a touching nod to Swift’s fandom tradition that had everyone comparing and trading bracelets throughout the day. This detail perfectly complemented her vow to “try to listen to less Taylor Swift” (which drew knowing laughter from everyone who knows her!).

The Magic of Authenticity in Wedding Films

What I love most about being a wedding filmmaker is capturing days that feel true to the couple’s genuine spirit. David and Emily’s wedding exemplifies exactly why I’m passionate about documentary-style wedding filmmaking – when couples create a day that authentically represents who they are, the resulting film becomes something truly magical.

This is the approach I bring to every wedding I film in Northern Ireland – finding and capturing the authentic story that makes each couple’s day special. When you let your personalities shine through in your wedding, the film becomes something you’ll treasure forever because it truly represents you.

Are you looking for a wedding film like this?

As a wedding filmmaker based in Northern Ireland, my aim is always to create films that authentically tell a couple’s unique story. David and Emily’s wedding was a perfect example of why I love what I do – their day was filled with genuine emotion, personal details, and moments that truly represented who they are as a couple.

“Highly highly recommend Jo to shoot your wedding. Our wedding video is one of our absolute favourite mementos of the day and we are fully reliving the day every time we watch it. It is honestly a work of art. On the day Jo blended into the background and there are so many shots where I didn’t even know she was there. She was a lovely calming influence and we felt completely natural around her (she also helped get a fly out of a layer of my dress which no-one else could manage!!) She was a wonderful addition to our day and one of the best decisions we made was going with Jo. If you are even slightly considering a videographer 100% go for Jo – you will not regret it!!”
